Swedish developer Vattenfall will next month begin construction of its 34MW Klaverspoor wind farm in the Netherlands.
The €45m project is one of five to be built along the country’s A16 motorway and was given the green light to proceed in July after a legal challenge against the development was overturned.
Civil engineering contractor Heijmans is tackling the construction of roads, cranes, cables and foundations for the wind farm, which will feature six Nordex 5.7MW turbines with 149 metre rotors.
“The ‘Energy A16′ project is truly unique in the positive sense of the word in its interaction and relationship with landowners, local residents and the competent authority,” said project manager Luc Dekkers.
“Thanks to this collaboration, the people in the surrounding area have been able to discuss the project and will be able to benefit from it in the future.”
The project is due to supply first power to the grid in the second half of 2022 and will meet the annual energy needs of 300,000 households.
