Vestas confirms 970MW third quarter surge

Vestas booked turbine orders totalling 969MW as the third quarter of 2019 drew to a close with contracts in the US, Germany and Finland.

In the US, the Danish manufacturer has received a 337MW order for V150-4.2MW and V136-3.7MW machines for an unnamed wind farm and client, also including a 20-year service agreement.

Delivery is planned for the first quarter of 2020 with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of the same year.

Vestas also won a contract for V120-2.2MW turbines totalling 256MW in the US for another undisclosed customer and wind farm.

The deal includes a 10-year service agreement, with the hardware to be delivered in the second quarter of next year and commissioning planned for the fourth quarter.

A third US contract was booked for V110-2.0MW turbines with a combined capacity of 134MW.

Vestas said that including previously purchased 2MW components, the project has a total nameplate capacity of 150MW.

Delivery will start in the second quarter of 2020 with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter. No details of the wind farm or client were released.

In Finland, Glennmont Partners and Finnish developer Ilmatar Energy ordered 13 V150-4.2MW and 28 V150-5.6MW machines from Vestas’ EnVentus platform for the 211MW Piiparinmaki wind farm.

The deal also includes anti-icing, 155-metre steel towers and a 30-year service agreement.

In Germany, Vestas has secured a 31MW order from Windpark Albertshof, a subsidiary of the public utility Berliner Stadtwerke, for the Albertshof wind farm in Brandenburg.

Vestas will provides a full engineering, procurement and construction solution for the project, which will comprise eight V117-3.45MW machines and one V126-3.45MW turbine with different hub heights.

The order covers civil and electrical works, building and commissioning of a substation, grid connection, as well as a 23-year active output management 5000 service agreement.

Delivery is planned to start in the fourth quarter of 2020, with commissioning expected in the same quarter.
