Vestas has won a turbine order totalling 16MW from Iberdrola for the Pyrgari wind farm located in Viotia, Greece.
The contract includes the supply and installation of four V150-4.2MW machines delivered in 4.0MW operating mode, as well as a 10-year active output management 5000 service agreement.
Delivery is planned for the first quarter of 2020, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of the same year.
The deal takes Vestas’ order intake in Greece past 200MW in this quarter alone and marks the debut for the V150-4.2MW turbine in the Greek market.
Iberdrola Renewables Greece country manager Thanasis Tsantilas said that in the new context of capacity auctions, there is an absolute need of design optimisation for maximum productivity and the most competitive capex.
“Taking that into account, we believe that Vestas V150-4.2MW turbines widely meet those needs,” he said.

Meanwhile, E2i Energie Speciali has ordered turbines totalling 43MW from Vestas for the merchant repowering of two wind farms in the province of Chieti, Italy.
The deal will see 24 V47-660kW machines at the Roccaspinalveti project replaced by nine V112-3.3MW turbines, while the Castiglione Messer Marino will include four V112-3.3MW units to replace third-party turbines.
Delivery is expected to start in the second quarter of 2020, while commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of the same year.
The number of turbines will be reduced by 70% allowing the operation of the two wind farms on a purely merchant basis and without any direct financial support, Vestas said.
E2i chief operating officer Alberto Musso said: “One of the main pillars in the E2i guideline for growth is the renewal of existing power plants through reconstruction projects.

“This will help us mitigate energy production uncertainties. Vestas technology will allow us to better harness wind resources with larger rotors and modern wind turbines.
