VSB has started construction of the 18MW Arnsberg/Oeventrop wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The developer said site preparation began in early November for three Vestas V150 turbines to be built on forestry land, with commissioning scheduled for spring 2027.
VSB added that access roads and internal paths are currently being developed, with foundation works planned for May 2026 and turbine installation in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The company noted that the hilly terrain, steep gradients and location within the Arnsberger Wald nature conservation area present particular planning and environmental challenges.
VSB has worked with local authorities and forestry offices on compensation and reforestation measures, including establishing about 70,000 square metres of mixed deciduous forest.
The wind farm will provide regional value creation through EEG revenue sharing of 0.2 cents per kilowatt-hour for nearby municipalities, according to the company.
Thomas Winkler, managing director of VSB Germany, said: “Few regions illustrate as clearly as the Hochsauerland how closely nature, quality of life and the energy transition are interconnected.”
Dr Felix Grolman, chief executive of VSB Group, added: “North Rhine-Westphalia is currently the driving force of Germany’s energy transition, accounting for the largest volume of new wind energy capacity under development and approval.”
