Nick Hurd, Margot James, Baroness Neville-Rolfe, Jesse Norman and Jo Johnson have been appointed as ministers of state at the new Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
A spokeswoman for the department was unable to confirm the ministerial roles of the appointees, with the exception of Jo Johnson who continues as universities and science minister.
The remaining briefs will be assigned “this week”, the spokeswoman added.
The merged department will be located at the erstwhile Department of Business, Innovation and Skills’ offices at London’s 1 Victoria Street.
Former energy minister Lord Bourne has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and will continue as Wales Office minister.
