The Danish Energy Agency, Energinet and gas grid operator Evida have launched a market dialogue in relation to hydrogen infrastructure in Denmark.
Participation is via a questionnaire with a deadline of 12 September 2022.
The purpose of the market dialogue is to gather information from market participants about the interest and need for a hydrogen distribution infrastructure in Denmark.
Via a power-to-x agreement Energinet and Evida have the opportunity to own and operate hydrogen infrastructure.
The market dialogue is part of Energinet and Evida’s preparatory work towards the final division of roles and responsibilities.
“Evida’s approach to establishing a hydrogen infrastructure is market-based.
“At the same time, we believe it is crucial that we, together with the Danish Energy Agency and Energinet, develop and plan the best possible basis for the hydrogen infrastructure of the future.
“We are therefore looking forward to the market dialogue so that together we receive valuable input from the entire market,” said Peter Kristensen, Strategy and Development Director at Evida.
The purpose of the questionnaire is to obtain information from green and other hydrogen project developers, potential offtakers as well as entities that want to both produce and buy hydrogen.
“With hydrogen infrastructure, we can together create value from the great Danish potential for renewable energy.
“Together with the players, we must find a development path to ensure that hydrogen infrastructure delivers the greatest possible value to Denmark and the PtX players in both the short and long term.
“This supports the Danish PtX position of strength, the political ambitions for green transition of society and export of green energy as well as the balance of the Danish energy system, said Stine Grenaa Jensen, Deputy Director of System Development at Energinet.
A number of companies are involved in several hydrogen projects, and the individual hydrogen projects may also have several partners.
Evida, Energinet and the Danish Energy Agency wish to receive one response for each project, so developers of several projects are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire for all of them.
The questionnaire consists of a number of questions of a factual nature as well as a number of assessment questions, such as in relation to potential barriers to operating a PtX plant.
The results from individual responses will be treated in confidence, and results will be reported in aggregate for the participants without reference to individual companies or projects.
