DeterTech and Gallagher have announced a strategic partnership to improve protection and insurability for renewable energy sites.
DeterTech said the collaboration will focus on preventing crime, reducing repeat targeting and helping site owners secure more effective insurance cover.
Gallagher added that insurers will consider DeterTech risk assessments and implemented security measures when assessing risk and setting premiums.
The companies noted that where sites avoid further incidents, insurers may offer improved terms such as low-claims rebates.
They said cable theft targeting solar, onshore wind and battery storage sites has risen sharply, with a 59% year-on-year increase in reported attacks.
“DeterTech and Gallagher have a shared mission to bring greater peace of mind to people and communities, every day, so it made sense to join forces,” said Mark Kubis-Law, corporate account director at DeterTech.
“As the UK expands its renewable generation capacity at unprecedented speed, criminals are becoming more sophisticated, more organised, and more relentless.”
“Insurers are increasingly requiring robust and consistent risk management and security measures,” said Carl Gurney, director of renewable energy at Gallagher UK & Ireland.
“Through our partnership with DeterTech, we can offer renewable energy operators a clear pathway to securing insurance cover, even following an incident.
