European Energy has inaugurated a hybrid energy park in Kvosted, Denmark, combining an existing utility-scale solar plant with a 200MWh battery system.
The company said the facility (pictured) is Northern Europe’s largest operational solar-plus-storage project and has been supplying power since December 2025.
The battery enables solar electricity to be stored and delivered during lower production periods and provides flexibility services that reduce curtailment and exposure to negative pricing.
European Energy added that the system strengthens asset economics by broadening the revenue base and improving long-term investment resilience.
“By integrating battery storage into the existing solar park in Kvosted, the project has been transformed into a hybrid asset with greater operational flexibility and a broader revenue base. This strengthens the long-term value and resilience of renewable energy projects,” said Knud Erik Andersen, chief executive of European Energy.
Hybridisation through storage is becoming more relevant as systems with high shares of wind and solar require increased flexibility.
European Energy has a battery development pipeline exceeding 12GW across multiple markets.
