The Spanish government has announced plans to tender up to 1300MW of grid capacity to renewables projects in Aragon.
The ministry for ecological transition has prepared a draft ministerial order which will guide the call for tenders to grant capacity at the 400-kV Mudejar node in the north east of the country.
Mudejar became vacant last year after the closure of the Andorra-Teuler power plant in June 2020 and has been designated as a “node of the fair transition”.
These are nodes which require special economic solutions for the population and businesses relying on them and potential renewables developers will need to meet a range of socioeconomic criteria to use the grid connection.
This includes having a job creation plan for surplus employees, strike agreements with local businesses, and having a mature project with visible investment.
Public consultation on the draft ministerial order will close on 15 June.
