DE Shaw, in partnership with Chicago-based solar developer Ranger Power, has achieved commercial operation at a 79MW solar farm in Michigan.
Assembly Solar 3 is located in Shiawassee County and follows on from the 110MW Assembly Solar 2 facility, also in the county, reaching commercial operation in December 2021.
“We are very pleased to reach COD at Assembly II and III and to continue to invest in cost-effective clean energy in Michigan,” said David Zwillinger, chief executive officer of DE Shaw.
“It was a pleasure to work with all of our business partners including our offtakers, lenders, tax equity investors and development partners at Ranger Power.
“This marks a tremendous effort in what continues to be a very exciting market.”
Assembly Solar 2 has two 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for a total of 110 MW with Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA) and its largest member, Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL).
These PPAs are in addition to the two 25-year PPAs for 50MW MPPA and BWL executed with Assembly Solar 1 that reached operation in 2020.
Assembly Solar 3 has a 25-year PPA with DTE Energy.
