EnBW secures 184MW in German solar tender

EnBW secures 184MW in German solar tender

EnBW has secured contracts for seven solar parks in the BNetzA’s latest ground-mounted PV tender with a total capacity of 184MW.

In Baden-Württemberg, the awards pave the way for five additional EnBW solar parks, the developer said.

Contracts were also sealed for one solar park project each in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg.

EnBW head of renewable energies Harald Schmoch said: “Despite the high demand, we were able to prevail with our bids for all the targeted areas – even though the tender was almost twice oversubscribed.

“This is a good omen for the further ramp-up of solar power generation at EnBW and will help us to continue to drive forward the energy transition consistently.”

EnBW already operates more than 41 of its own PV sites with an installed capacity of 760MW, 26 of which are in Baden-Württemberg with a total installed capacity of 173MW.

In addition to subsidised plants, such as those from the current tender, EnBW is focusing on subsidy-free solar park projects.

One example of this is the largest PV asset in Baden-Württemberg in Langenenslingen (Biberach district), which is currently under construction. It is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2025 and then have an installed capacity of 80MW.

In Baden-Württemberg, EnBW was awarded the contracts by the BNetzA for the sites in Langenburg and Mulfingen, Adelsheim, Geislingen-Erlaheim and Sigmaringen-Gutenstein.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, it secured the contracts for a solar park in Lauenhagen and in Brandenburg for a solar park in Görlsdorf.
