Japanese developer Pacifico Energy has started construction of a 121MW solar farm in Japan.
The project is located at Sanda in Hyogo prefecture and will be mainly constructed on the site of a golf course.
The EPC contractor is Juwi Shizen Energy.
Commercial operations are expected to start in 2023.
Once fully commissioned, the project will generate approximately 143 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.
The development was mainly financed by MUFG Bank and Mitsubishi HC Capital, with Baker McKenzie acting as legal counsel to Pacifico Energy.
Pacifico Energy has now commenced construction of 15 solar power plants throughout Japan totalling 1293MW.
Eleven of the projects, with a combined capacity of 930MW, have been completed and are now in commercial operation.
