Proposals for a 30MW solar-storage farm north of Dunfermline in Scotland have been submitted for consultation.
The plans, for the site near Lochead Landfill, consist of ground mounted solar panels along with associated battery storage.
AMPYR Energy is working on the development, which is planned to come online in 2022.
Advised by the Chartered Planning practice of David Bell Planning, the company has now submitted a pre-application notice (PAN) to Fife Council to outline the proposals for the development.
AMPYR Energy, a joint venture between Singapore-based AGP Group and New York-based Hartree Partners, is a developer and operator of solar, battery storage and onshore wind projects.
Dunfermline is one of several renewable investments that AMPYR Energy is progressing in Scotland.
The solar farm site was formerly an open-cast coal mine and is used for grazing sheep.
The panels will be set on lightweight frames and will reach around 2.5 metres above the ground, with the area under the panels continuing to allow for grazing.
Biodiversity is a key aspect of the plans; an active habitat management plan and associated landscape strategy is being drawn up for the site and AMPYR Energy said it will consider aspects of biodiversity in the planting and management around and under the panels.
The company has launched a project website www.dunfermlinesolar.co.uk and is commencing the process of consulting with the community and consultees ahead of a possible planning application to be submitted in Spring 2021.
Live online events are planned for 25 February and 25 March 2021.
AMPYR Energy director Andrew Gould said: “We appreciate that we are at the beginning of the planning process and local residents will be interested to know more about the proposals.
“We have now submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Fife Council to start formal engagement on our plans and we look forward to holding online public consultation events, in line with Covid-19 guidance, to present the plans and receive feedback from the community.
“Once we have consulted on the plans, our aim is to submit a planning application for consideration by Fife Council in Spring 2021.
“If it gains their support then we would hope to have the project operational and supplying power in 2022.
