Stiesdal has reported its TetraSpar Demonstrator has hit a capacity factor of 63%.
It said since its commissioning in late 2021, the project has been operational at METCentre, Norway, delivering green energy, gathering data, validating numerical models, supporting R&D projects, and serving as a living laboratory for the development of floating wind technology.
“To date, the TetraSpar Demonstrator has generated more than 37GWh of green energy,” said Stiesdal.
“The 3.6MW Siemens Gamesa turbine and very high mean wind speeds at the MetCentre site combined to yield a capacity factor of 54%.
“In its first two years of operation, the availability was recorded at 97% and 98.3%, respectively.
“For 2024, the availability has increased to 99.5% with a capacity factor of almost 63%.
The TetraSpar floating foundation is a project owned by Tepco, Shell, RWE, and Stiesdal Offshore. The foundation is based on Stiesdal Offshore’s Tetra technology, which is a building-block industrialised floating foundation arrangement.
