Nordex banked new orders totalling 2GW in the second quarter of the year, doubling its 1GW performance in the same period in 2018.
A strong showing in the US, where new business for the three months totalled 1.1GW, was behind the surge, according to the German turbine manufacturer.
Two debut deals for the Delta4000 series stateside were the pick of the bunch during the quarter, accounting for 34% of the total intake.
Orders came from 12 countries in total with European nations responsible for 37% of new business, Latin America on 21% and Australia on 5%.
Countries where individual deals were not reported included Brazil, Finland, Germany and Ireland.
The quarterly surge led Nordex to a 3GW total for the first six months of the year, up from just under 2.1GW in the same period in 2018.
Chief sales officer Patxi Landa said: “The Delta4000 series is increasingly demonstrating its global appeal. After winning significant orders in Europe, Australia and Latin America for the N149/4.0-4.5 turbine, we have now been able to break into the US market with this model.”
He added: “Overall, our order book at mid-year reflects the Nordex Group’s broad geographical footprint.”
