Van Oord jack-up Aeolus has started installation work on 44 MHI Vestas turbines for the 370MW Norther offshore wind farm off the coast of Belgium.
The vessel is loading the first four V164-8.4MW machines at the port of Vlissingen for transport to the project site.
Van Oord is balance of plant contractor for the project.
Norther project director Dennis Sanou said: “This is quite an important phase. The wind farm is now being prepared for completion.
“The electricity produced by this new generation of wind turbines will contribute significantly to Belgium’s climate objectives.
“The efforts of its shareholders Elicio, Eneco, and DGE constitute an important contribution to the energy transition.”
Norther is scheduled to be fully operational by the summer.
It is 50% owned by Elicio, while Eneco and Mitsubishi Corp subsidiary Diamond Generating Europe hold 25% stakes each.
