A2Sea has won a mammoth contract to install turbines at Dong Energy’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm in the UK.
The company’s Sea Installer jack-up vessel will be deployed to plant Siemens 7MW turbines at the first phase of what when complete will be the world’s largest project of its type.
A2Sea will start work at the Round 3 project in spring 2019 some 120km of the Yorkshire coast.
“In a market of fierce competition, this contract cements our position as a trusted, competent company and I have full faith in our excellent team to deliver yet another project on time, on budget and very importantly, in the safest manner,” said chief executive Jens Frederik Hansen.
Further details about the remainder of turbine installation contracts at the second and third phases have yet to be announced by Dong.
