Engineering consultancy WSP has secured a contract from Orsted for work on the 900MW Changhua 1&2a offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
WSP will provide professional engineer services for the project, located 35 to 50km off the coast of Changhua County.
The work will be led by the consultancy’s local team in Taiwan with support from its US-based offshore wind industry experts.
WSP Asia managing director Ivy Kong said: “We are excited to pilot this Changhua offshore wind farm projects and this is a significant milestone for WSP in the offshore wind farm market in Taiwan.
“Leveraging on our trusted relationship with the client, our local team of highly-skilled engineers, planners, designers and project delivery specialists will collaborate with our global offshore wind experts and our client, Orsted, to successfully deliver this remarkable project.”
Offshore construction is expected to start in 2021.
Changhua 1&2a will feature Siemens Gamesa 167-8.0MW turbines.
