A fishing vessel has hit one of the turbines at Dong Energy’s 90MW Barrow offshore wind farm 7km off the coast of Cumbria.
The Danish company said the turbine hit by the vessel has been shut down for inspection, while the rest of the wind farm is operating normally.
Barrow lifeboat attended the scene early this morning and rescued the boat’s three crew members, a Dong spokesman said.
“Two had sustained injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment,” he said.
“The fishing vessel has been towed into shallower waters for assessment. Dong Energy has two vessels on standby to assist,” the spokesman added.
The wind farm consists of 30 Vestas V90 turbines and has been operational since 2006.
