Offshore wind contractor Jan De Nul has chosen Tekmar Energy to supply cable protection for the 219MW Northwester 2 project off the Belgian coast.
Tekmar will provide its TekLink Mechanical Latch for the offshore wind farm, which is due for completion in 2020.
The contract is for cable protection for all inter array and export cables.
Tekmar will produce the kit at its factory in north-east England during 2019.
Jan De Nul senior project manager Stan Logghe said: “Cable protection systems are vital for protecting the electrical infrastructure of offshore wind farm projects.
“We have worked with Tekmar for many years, on projects including Burbo Bank and Race Bank, and Northwester 2 builds on our strong and trusted relationship.”
Tekmar is also supplying several adjacent wind farms, including Belwind, Belwind Demonstration, Thornton Bank 2 and 3 and Borselle 1,2,3 and 4.
Northwester 2 is the sixth wind farm in the North Sea off the Belgian coast, consisting of 23 turbines off the coast of Zeebrugge, in water depth of approximately 40 metres.
As part of the project, AgileTek Engineering, part of the Tekmar Group, will provide its cloud system that verifies the cable protection system design using global analysis of the cables.
