A 700MW offshore wind tender in the Baltic Sea temporarily suspended by the Lithuanian government earlier this year over cost concerns will be re-launched in June.
The country’s minister of energy Zygimantas Vaiciunas confirmed details of the two-sided Contract for Difference auction framework were being presented to the Lithuanian parliament today before being finalised in May ahead of the summer opening.
The auction for a site 30km from the Lithuanian cost began last November and had been due to close in mid-March before the Ministry of Energy pulled the plug to review the terms of the tender for what will become the Baltic nation’s second wind farm.
Vaiciunas told WindEurope: “I encourage bidders to participate. Everything is prepared.
“The challenges in the market are very clear but we see CfD as a guaranteed and stable approach.”
