Siemens has received five orders for a total of 23 direct-drive turbines rated between 3MW and 3.3MW for wind farms in Germany.
One SWT-3.3-130 machine will be installed for Südermarsch Wind near Husum in Schleswig-Holstein by the end of year.
It will have an 85-metre hub height on a steel tower and a rotor diameter of 130 metres.
A further six SWT-3.3-130 units will make up the Damme wind farm in Lower Saxony.
The turbines, which will be installed on steel tube towers with hub heights of 135 metres, are scheduled to go online by the end of this year.
The Dean Group has ordered five SWT-3.0-113 machines for the Beedenbostel project near Celle in Lower Saxony.
The turbines, which will have hub heights of 115 metres and rotors measuring 113 metres in diameter, are part of a repowering project to replace five older machines.
The new units are expected to come online in early 2017.
Eight SWT-3.0-113 will also be delivered to InnoVent and Jade Concept for the Bollenhagen wind farm in the Wesermarsch marshlands near the city of Oldenburg.
The hub heights will be 92.5 metres and commercial operation is scheduled for the start of 2017.
Siemens is also installing three SWT-3.2-113 units for Denker & Wulf’s Quarnbek project near the A210 Autobahn between Rendsburg and Kiel.
Commissioning is planned for before the end of the year, Siemens said.
