Siemens Gamesa has signed contract with Ruselprom for the delivery of locally-produced generators for onshore wind turbines in Russia.
Ruselprom produces electric motors and generators at several locations in Russia with capacities up to 550,000kW. It also manufacturers digital excitation systems, variable frequency drives and soft start systems.
The contract is part of local content requirements, which are mandatory for bidders of tenders for the construction of wind farms in Russia.
Siemens Gamesa recently secured its first order in the country for a 90MW project.
Siemens Gamesa onshore North Europe and Middle East chief executive Steven Pryor said: “As a globally leading company in wind power, Siemens Gamesa is excited to enter into the Russian renewable energy market to contribute to sustainable energy generation for the country. We are pleased to add Ruselprom as a strong partner to our local supply and value chain.
“With our proven technology we offer advanced and reliable wind power generators. Our local suppliers will support us to provide the best possible product for the Russian market.”
