Trianel has acquired a 19.2MW wind farm in Bavaria as part of plans to grow its German renewable energy portfolio.
The Vogelherd project near Bayreuth, developed by local firm Fronteris, will feature eight Nordex N117/2400 turbines, the German power supplier said.
Fronteris started initial works this month and will begin operating the plant in the first quarter of 2017.
Trianel’s renewable energy unit TEE, partly-owned by 40 local and regional utilities, aims to operate at least 275MW of wind and solar plants across Germany by 2018. It bought its first wind project in March.
“We are expanding our activities in the renewables space continuously,” TEE managing director Markus Hakes said. “The Vogelherd project takes our portfolio to 24MW of wind and 20MW of PV capacity.”
