MET Group has commissioned its first solar park in Germany, with the Kentzlin plant in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania now feeding power into the grid.
The 11.5MWp site is expected to generate around 13GWh of clean electricity each year, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 3600 households, the Swiss company said.
Kentzlin was acquired in 2023, with MET completing development, securing an award in the EEG tender and overseeing construction with engineering partner IBC Solar.
“Bringing Kentzlin into operation is a major achievement for MET’s renewables activities and a key step in our strategy to grow in Western Europe,” said Christian Hürlimann, CEO of renewables development at MET.
MET is already active in Germany’s natural gas and electricity markets, and said the solar park marks the foundation for further renewable investments in the country.
